Sri Lanka, March 29 -- The sacred sapling of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, which was brought from Sri Lanka and planted at the Sri Bodhi Dhamma Vihara in Bendigo, Australia has been officially added to the National Trust Register of Significant Trees.

The ceremony marking the inclusion of the Bodhi tree in the Australian National Trust Register was attended by a large gathering, led by the Chief Prelate of the Bendigo Bodhi Dhamma Vihara, Most Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, along with other senior monks.

Additionally, the event was attended by Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan, the Speaker of the Victorian Parliament Maree Edwards and several other dignitaries.
