Sri Lanka, June 22 -- Sri Lanka has recorded a sharp rise in dengue infections, with a record 1,069 fresh cases reported yesterday (21) the first time daily figures have crossed the 1,000-mark, according to the Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Kapila Kannangara.



So far this year, a total of 47,179 dengue cases and 28 deaths have been reported, he added.
