Sri Lanka, March 17 -- The Ministry of Education stated that, as government schools are closed on Wednesdays which have been declared as public holidays, a request has been made for government-approved private schools to also remain closed on those days.

Accordingly, government-approved private schools have been notified to close on Wednesdays.

Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Nalaka Kaluwewa, further stated that a request has been made for international schools to follow the same procedure.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has issued instructions that preschools should also remain closed on all Wednesdays.
