Srilanka, July 16 -- The Police Media Division has issued a special clarification regarding a viral video circulating on social media showing a young child walking past a car that was on fire.



Police stated that while the video is being shared with an accompanying audio clip claiming that the child set the vehicle ablaze, investigations have so far found no eyewitness testimony or scientific evidence to support that allegation.



The incident had occurred within the premises of a school in the Kurunegala Police Division.



According to police reports, a car valued at approximately Rs. 14 million, which had been parked on the school grounds, was destroyed in a fire on July 3, 2026.
