Srilanka, July 17 -- Police have detected 100 passenger transport buses allegedly operating on kerosene instead of diesel following a series of complaints received from the public, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic Control and Road Safety W.P.J. Senadheera said.



Addressing a media briefing today (17), the DIG said that all police stations across the country had been instructed to launch a special operation after receiving multiple complaints that buses used for passenger transport were being operated using kerosene instead of diesel.



As a result of the operation, information on 100 such buses was uncovered, he said.
