Sri Lanka, April 5 -- In his Easter message, the Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa highlighted that Easter is a sacred occasion symbolizing hope, resurrection, and new beginnings for society, extending warm wishes to the people of Sri Lanka.
He noted that Christian devotees around the world celebrate Easter with deep reverence, reflecting on the resurrection of Jesus Christ who triumphed over evil, and observing the 40-day season of Lent through fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.
He acknowledged that, even amid celebrations, the painful memory of the brutal suicide attacks targeting churches and hotels on Easter Sunday seven years ago continues to linger.
