Sri Lanka, April 15 -- An individual died while three of his family members sustained injuries following a fatal road accident reported on the Wellawaya-Monaragala main road in Buttala, early this morning (15), police stated.

The accident was a result of a three-wheeler colliding with a van.

The driver of the three-wheeler succumbed to his injuries, while his wife and two children sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Buttala Divisional Hospital for treatment.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Ampara. It is reported that the family was travelling from Ampara to Colombo at the time of the accident.

Buttala Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
