Srilanka, July 16 -- The newly appointed 27th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, has met Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at Temple Trees today (16).



This was the first meeting between the Prime Minister and the newly appointed Commander of the Navy following his assumption of office, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Division.



During the meeting, focus was drawn on the role of the Sri Lanka Navy in ensuring national and maritime security, the importance of further strengthening coordination among state institutions, and cooperation towards national development, the statement said.
