Nearly 37,000 dengue cases reported thus far in 2026
SriLanka, June 8 -- Sri Lanka has recorded nearly 37,000 dengue cases so far this year, marking an increase of approximately 10,000 cases compared to the corresponding period in 2025, health authorities said.
The Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara said that close to 50 percent of the reported cases have originated from the Western Province.
According to official data, the Colombo District accounts for 22 percent of the total cases, followed by Gampaha District with 17 percent and Kalutara District with 6 percent.
