SriLanka, Oct. 25 -- Authorities have seized a massive consignment of heroin and crystal methamphetamine ('Ice'), with an estimated street value of over Rs. 11.8 billion, following a special search operation in the coastal areas of Talalla and Naotunna, Matara, yesterday (24).

According to security officials, the haul weighed a total of 561 kilograms and 705 grams, comprising 321 kilograms and 941 grams of heroin and 239 kilograms and 764 grams of Ice.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Department of Coast Guard. During the raid, authorities also seized 10 sacks suspected of containing narcotics, 11 travel bags, and a dinghy believed to have been used to transport the drugs.
