Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- A group of Buddhist monks staging a satyagraha at Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo, demanding the release of Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, continues to remain at the site.

The monks arrived at Viharamahadevi Park last afternoon, and a tense situation arose between them and the police when the group attempted to erect a hut during the night.

However, Venerable Thiththagalle Anandasiri Thero stated that the monks would not leave the premises until Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero is released.

The group of monks, who had gathered in front of the Presidential Secretariat until last evening (16), subsequently marched to the Ministry of Buddhasasana.
