SriLanka, Sept. 19 -- A 37-year-old man was killed in an attack carried out by his younger brother using a sharp weapon in the Pethigamuwa Kanda area of Anguruwatota.



According to the police, the victim, a resident of Haltota, was allegedly assaulting his mother last night (18) when his 35-year-old younger brother attacked him with a machete in an attempt to protect their mother.



The mother, who sustained injuries from the assault, has been admitted to the Horana District General Hospital.



Investigations have revealed that the deceased frequently engaged in quarrels and clashes at home while under the influence of alcohol, police said.
