Sri Lanka, Sept. 20 -- A large landslide has blocked the Hatton-Bogawantalawa-Maskeliya-Balangoda road in the Dickoya, Wanaraja Estate area, following heavy rainfall in Hatton.



The landslide occurred at around 11:00 a.m. today (20), bringing traffic along the affected section of the road to a complete standstill.



Hatton Police, together with area residents, have begun clearing the earth from the road. Police said the Road Development Authority has also been notified to deploy machinery to expedite the removal of the debris.



Authorities have warned that there is a risk of further earth slips in the area. Hatton Police have therefore urged motorists using the affected road section to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant...
