Sri Lanka, April 28 -- A jailor and a warden have been arrested following the death of a 37-year-old inmate at the Magazine Prison last evening (27), police said.

A special investigation has been launched by the Prisons Department into the incident. Prisons Media Spokesman A.C. Gajanayake stated that the inquiry is being conducted under the supervision of an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons.

Two inmates and a prison officer were admitted to hospital with injuries following an incident reported at Magazine Prison yesterday (27) morning.

It has been reported that one of the injured inmates subsequently died.
