Srilanka, July 7 -- The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has decided to launch a special investigation into the incident that recently occurred at Negombo Prison.



Human Rights Commissioner Nimal G. Punchihewa stated that the Commission has resolved to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the incident to ascertain the relevant facts and circumstances.



Accordingly, a team of HRCSL officials was dispatched to Negombo Prison yesterday (06) to initiate the investigation. However, the inquiry could not commence due to the tense situation prevailing at the prison.
