High dengue risk expected until mid-August amid prevailing weather conditions - Minister
Srilanka, July 16 -- Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has warned that a heightened risk of dengue transmission may continue until mid-August due to the prevailing weather conditions in the country.
The Minister urged the public to extend maximum support to dengue prevention programmes launched by health authorities and to ensure that homes, schools, and workplaces are kept clean to prevent mosquito breeding.
He further stated that a significant rise in dengue cases has been reported in the Gampaha District at present.
Meanwhile, the National Dengue Control Unit has announced that a special dengue prevention programme targeting 11 districts will commence today (16) in response to the island wide dengue risk.
