Government lifts fuel restrictions for ministers and public officials
Srilanka, July 7 -- The government has removed the fuel restrictions previously imposed on ministers, Members of Parliament and other public officials as part of measures to curb public expenditure during the energy crisis.
According to reports, the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance has issued a circular informing all secretaries of ministries, provincial chief secretaries, heads of commissions, government departments, district secretariats, state corporations and statutory boards of the decision.
The restrictions were introduced following the conflict in the Middle East, with the government issuing a circular on April 2 directing that fuel allowances for ministers, deputy ministers, MPs and public officials be calculated base...
