Srilanka, July 23 -- Police have launched an investigation after a 15-year-old boy went missing while swimming in the Mahaweli River in Udowita, Gampola.



The incident occurred last evening (22). The missing teenager was a resident of Weligalla.



According to preliminary investigations, the boy had been swimming with two friends at the Deniyegala crossing on the Mahaweli River when he reportedly drowned and disappeared underwater.



Gampola Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
