Sri Lanka, April 22 -- Former Ratnapura District Parliamentarian Premalal Jayasekara, who was arrested yesterday (21) in connection with an alleged incident of threatening an individual with a firearm, has been granted bail.

The suspect was produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate's Court today (22), following which Magistrate Pushpika Jayadasa ordered his release on bail under strict conditions, Ada Derana reporter said.

The Magistrate ordered to release Premalal Jayasekara on a Rs. 25,000 cash bail and two surety bails amounting to Rs. 1 million.

The Magistrate further ordered that the case be recalled on September 14. She also directed that the firearm in question be retained in court custody.
