Extreme heat becoming more frequent and intense, UN agency says
Sri Lanka, Aug. 11 -- A suspected close associate of organised crime figure Kanjipani Imran, known as "Ratmalane Saima," has been ordered to be detained for 48 hours for questioning, police said.
The order was issued after the suspect was produced before the Kandy Magistrate's Court, according to the Police Media Division.
The suspect was handed over to the Peradeniya Police last evening (10) for further investigations.
He was among three Sri Lankans arrested in Malaysia with the assistance of Malaysian police and Interpol, following an operation conducted by officers of the Walana Central Anti Vice Striking Force.
Ratmalane Saima had reportedly been the subject of an Interpol Red Notice.
