Deputy Defence Minister reviews Navy's maritime security operations
Srilanka, Aug. 19 -- Sri Lanka's maritime security operations, including intensified efforts to disrupt drug trafficking at sea, were reviewed during a visit by Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) to the Navy Headquarters at the Defence Headquarters Complex.
Deputy Minister Jayasekara was briefed by Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Damian Fernando and senior naval officers on the Navy's operational activities and measures to counter emerging threats across Sri Lanka's maritime domain, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
The discussions placed particular focus on the Navy's role in securing the waters surrounding the country and disrupting maritime drug-trafficking networks.
