Committee to be appointed to amend laws on detaining monks in prison, escorting them outside: President
Srilanka, Oct. 8 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that a committee would be appointed to review and amend the existing laws governing the manner in which Buddhist monks are detained in prisons and taken outside prison premises, and to introduce new standing orders and regulations.
The President stated that the committee would comprise representatives of the Attorney General's Department, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Public Administration, the Ministry of Buddhasasana Affairs, prison officials and the Commissioner-General of Prisons.
