Sri Lanka, April 7 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to provide a fuel subsidy for fishing vessels, the Fisheries Ministry announced.

Under the approved scheme, small fishing boats will receive a subsidy of Rs. 50 per litre of fuel, while multi-day fishing vessels will be entitled to Rs. 150,000 per trip.

The Ministry stated that the subsidy will take effect from 20 April 2026.
