Businessman arrested with over 600g of 'Kush' at BIA
SriLanka, Sept. 13 -- A businessman has been arrested by Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for allegedly attempting to smuggle a consignment of 'Kush' cannabis into Sri Lanka.
The suspect was arrested while attempting to leave the airport through the 'Red Channel' designated for business-class passengers, Customs officials said.
The arrested suspect is a 44-year-old businessman from Weligama, Matara.
He had arrived in Sri Lanka from Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday (12), officials said.
Customs officials said the suspect had concealed approximately 668 grams of 'Kush' cannabis, packed into three packets, in the side pockets of the trousers he was wearing.
