Audit report reveals over Rs. 2.27 billion in damage to schools and colleges following Cyclone Ditwah
Sri Lanka, Sept. 20 -- A recent audit report has revealed that 150 national schools and seven National Colleges of Education suffered damages exceeding Rs. 2.27 billion following Cyclone Ditwah.
According to the report, the Engineering Division of the Ministry has estimated the total damage caused by the disaster at Rs. 2,274,230,000.
However, the audit report notes that the losses had not been recognized or disclosed in the relevant financial statements.
Meanwhile, the report states that the Engineering Division is primarily responsible for the development of infrastructure at schools, National Colleges of Education, teacher training colleges and other educational institutions across the country.
