Appeals Court to hear Dilith Jayaweera's writ petition on Sept. 18
Srilanka, Sept. 14 -- The Court of Appeal today (14) ordered that a writ petition filed by the leader of the Sarvajana Balaya, Parliamentarian Dilith Jayaweera challenging a referral by the Colombo Fort Magistrate over alleged contempt of court be taken up for support on September 18.
The petition will be heard before a three-judge bench comprising Court of Appeal President Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya and Justices Chamath Morais and Adithya Patabendige.
The Colombo Fort Magistrate had referred the matter to the Court of Appeal to determine whether MP Jayaweera committed contempt of court during a television interview. The referral was taken up for the second consecutive day today.
