AG opposes request to suspend High Court trial against Yoshitha Rajapaksa
Srilanka, July 22 -- The Attorney General today raised objections before the Supreme Court to a request made by counsel representing Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, seeking an order to prevent the Colombo High Court from proceeding with the trial against him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The objection was raised by Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara, appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, when the appeal filed by Yoshitha Rajapaksa was taken up for consideration before the Supreme Court today, said Ada Derana reporter.
