Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- A total of 294,132 students applied for the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and of these, only 289,867 applicants sat for the examination, according to the Commissioner General of Examinations.

Meanwhile, around 56,000 candidates have scored above the cut-off mark in the exam, he said.
