'Janathawadi Joint Opposition' condemns removal of Gnanasara Thero's robes
Srilanka, Oct. 8 -- The "Janathawadi Joint Opposition" has stated that it does not condone the removal of Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero's saffron robes under any circumstances.
The position was outlined in a special statement issued by the political group, led by former minister Prof. G. L. Peiris, to clarify its stance on the matter.
The statement emphasizes that action concerning Buddhist monks should be taken in accordance with the traditions and disciplinary rules established within the Buddha Sasana.
