Bahrain, May 5 -- As part of ongoing efforts to protect marine resources, the Interior Ministry announced that the Coast Guard had seized 361 illegal marine fishing traps, locally known as "Gargoor", and 16 illegal fishing nets during the past three months of 2026, February, March and April, bringing the total number of seized illegal fishing tools to 377.
The Coast Guard confirmed that the necessary legal procedures were taken regarding the violations as part of its intensified inspection campaign to ensure that fishermen comply with the applicable rules and regulations and to preserve Bahrain's marine environment and natural resources.
