Benapole, Jan. 15 -- Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) here on Tuesday detained eight people for entering Bangladesh from India without valid papers through Shikori Battala.

Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team conducted a drive in the bordering area and detained them, said Lt Col Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-49.

The detainees are Juthi Sheikh, 19, Khepi Roy, 25, Nur Islam, 17, Amjad Mollah, 18, Md Sohel, 8, Nitai Chandra, 45, Shriful Sheikh, 30, and Imon Sheikh, 6.

Later, they were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, Ariful said.

All of them hail from different areas of Narail, Jashore and Narayanganj districts, the detainees claimed.
