Bangladesh, June 1 -- The political transition in West Bengal following the Bharatiya Janata Partys (BJP) historic victory in the 2026 Assembly elections is expected to significantly alter the dynamics of Indias eastern border policy and its relationship with Bangladesh. For the first time, the BJP now governs the state that shares Indias longest border with Bangladesh, removing a political divergence that had long existed between Kolkata and New Delhi on issues related to migration, border management and national security.
