India, Aug. 4 -- WhatsApp is expanding the capabilities of its browser-based platform with a major calling update. Users can now make and receive one-to-one and group audio and video calls directly through WhatsApp Web, removing one of the biggest limitations of the browser version.

The feature, announced by WhatsApp, means users no longer need to switch to the mobile or desktop application specifically to make a call. WhatsApp says the new web calling experience includes several of the features already available across its other platforms, including screen sharing, reactions and a dedicated Calls tab. The company is rolling out the features gradually, so they may not be available to every user immediately.
