India, July 23 -- As heavy monsoon rains continue to affect Mumbai, telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) has once again opened its retail stores across the city as temporary shelters for people caught in the adverse weather. The initiative comes as widespread waterlogging, flooding and disruptions to road and rail transport have affected normal life, leaving many commuters stranded during their daily journeys.

Vi said anyone seeking refuge from the rain can walk into the nearest participating retail store and remain there until it is safe to continue travelling. The company has also made basic facilities available, including mobile phone charging points and a secure indoor space where visitors can wait for weather conditions to improve....
