India, March 26 -- STL has announced the launch of what it describes as India's first hollow core fibre (HCF) cable, marking a development in optical communication technology aimed at low-latency, high-bandwidth applications.

The technology is designed to address the growing demands of data centres, hyperscale operators and high-frequency transmission networks, where faster data transfer and reduced signal loss are increasingly critical.

Unlike conventional optical fibres, which transmit light through a solid glass core, hollow core fibre guides light through an air-filled core. This design enables signals to travel at higher speeds, estimated to be up to 46% faster, while reducing latency and signal attenuation.
