India, June 16 -- As India pushes to expand digital public infrastructure across remote regions, satellite communications are increasingly being viewed as essential to bridging connectivity gaps in the country's Northeast, where difficult terrain continues to limit traditional telecom networks.

The discussion took place during a panel session titled"Satcom for Digital Public Infrastructure & Public Services: Connecting India's Northeast" at India Space Congress 2026, where policymakers, satellite industry executives and technology experts examined how space-based connectivity could improve access to public services in one of India's most geographically challenging regions.
