India, Aug. 18 -- Nelco, a Tata Group company and satellite communications service provider, has announced a strategic partnership and investment in Lunar Holdco, which operates as Elveo Mobile (Elveo), a company focused on Direct-to-Device (D2D) satellite connectivity and satellite-based computing capabilities.

Under the agreement, Nelco plans to use Elveo's satellite network to provide connectivity and compute capabilities to sectors including automotive, maritime, energy and government across India and other South Asian markets.

The partnership comes as satellite operators and service providers increasingly explore D2D connectivity as a way to extend communications beyond the reach of conventional terrestrial networks.
