Jio's 1,600-satellite plan clears key IN-SPACe technical review
India, July 17 -- Reliance Jio has moved a step closer to entering the satellite communications market after India's space regulator, the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), reportedly concluded that the company's proposed low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation is technically viable. The assessment was carried out in consultation with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), according to media reports.
The decision represents an important milestone for Jio's plans to build an indigenous satellite broadband network and could eventually lead to the creation of India's first large-scale home-grown LEO constellation. The clearance also allows the gov...
