India, Sept. 22 -- US-based T-Mobile and India's Reliance Jio have announced what they describe as the world's first 5G Standalone (5G SA) roaming connection, enabling interoperability between their respective standalone 5G networks.

The connection was enabled through Syniverse's connectivity and mediation platform, which provides the interconnection layer between the two operators. T-Mobile said the arrangement allows its customers travelling to India to access 5G SA roaming on Jio's network. Jio customers travelling to the US can similarly use T-Mobile's 5G SA network.
