India, Sept. 10 -- Indian businesses are increasingly looking beyond basic transaction processing from payment gateways, with AI capabilities, faster settlement and integration with financial systems emerging as key requirements for payment infrastructure.

According to Zoho's Indian Merchant Payment Survey 2026, 78% of Indian businesses would consider switching their primary payment gateway if another provider offered the AI capabilities they expect. The findings, based on responses from more than 700 businesses ranging from MSMEs to large enterprises, point to a shift in how merchants are evaluating payment infrastructure.
