India's broadband market grows to 1.08 billion subscribers
India, June 29 -- India's broadband subscriber base continued its steady expansion in May 2026, crossing the 1.08 billion mark as demand for both mobile and fixed broadband services remained strong. The latest telecom subscription data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) shows that total broadband subscriptions increased to 1,080.15 million at the end of May from 1,073.44 million in April, representing a monthly growth of 0.63%.
While mobile broadband continued to account for the overwhelming majority of connections, the data also pointed to sustained growth in fixed broadband, suggesting that fibre and other wired services are gradually expanding alongside India's 5G rollout.
