India, Sept. 22 -- The Government of India has dissolved the Digital Communications Commission (DCC), ending the 37-year run of the Department of Telecommunications' (DoT) apex decision-making body as part of an administrative restructuring aimed at reducing overlapping functions and policy delays.

A DoT Gazette notification dated 19 September 2026 stated that the Commission would stand dissolved from the date of publication. The order did not state the reasons for the decision or formally identify the mechanism that would assume its responsibilities.
