India, Sept. 29 -- AMD has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire artificial intelligence (AI) research company World Labs in an all-stock transaction valued at about USD 8.2 billion, adding spatial intelligence and AI model research capabilities as the chipmaker develops infrastructure for emerging AI workloads.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, AMD said.

World Labs develops spatial intelligence models capable of generating, reconstructing, and simulating interactive 3D environments from text, images, and video, along with technology for robotic learning and simulation.
