India, Aug. 17 -- Airtel Payments Bank has appointed Shabnam Sinha as its new Chairperson for a three-year term from 1 October 2026, following approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She will succeed Sunil Bharti Mittal, who will step down as Non-Executive Chairman and leave the Board on 30 September 2026, ending a decade-long tenure at the bank.

Mittal, Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, has chaired Airtel Payments Bank since April 2016. During his tenure, the bank expanded its consumer and enterprise businesses and built a nationwide network of banking points.
