India, March 24 -- Airtel Africa and SpaceX have successfully tested broadband and messaging services using Starlink Mobile, marking a significant step towards extending connectivity beyond conventional network infrastructure. The trial focused on enabling access in areas where terrestrial mobile networks have little to no coverage. 

During the testing phase, standard 4G smartphones were able to connect directly to Starlink's satellite constellation, according to Airtel Africa. More than 650 satellites were used to bridge connectivity gaps in regions that are typically difficult to serve through traditional mobile networks.
