Phu Tho, Dec. 22 -- Authorities and residents in Van Mieu commune, the northern province of Phu Tho, discovered a large unexploded bomb buried beneath the bank of the He River on the morning of December 22, posing potential safety risks.

According to assessments by competent forces, the bomb, believed to be from the French colonial time, measures about 1.3 metres in length, 40 centimetres in diameter, and weighs an estimated 500 kilograms.

Upon receiving the report, provincial functional forces were promptly dispatched to the site to verify the information and implement urgent safety measures.
