Kuala Lumpur, July 8 -- Malaysia is considering setting up a national registry for domestic violence offenders to help track repeat offenders and strengthen protection for women and children, according to Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Nancy Shukri.
The proposal used to be discussed at a domestic violence case coordination meeting on April 29 with the participation of representatives from relevant ministries and government agencies.
In a recent written reply to the parliament, Nancy said her ministry is working with the police and the judiciary to develop a mechanism for recording and monitoring repeat offenders through criminal records and other relevant registries.
