Jakarta, March 16 -- Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ryosei Akazawa officially signed a five-year agreement on nuclear power development on March 15. The move marks an important step for Indonesia in its efforts to advance the energy transition and reduce reliance on coal, particularly as the Southeast Asian nation is drawing growing interest from major global nuclear technology companies with a goal of producing its first 500 MW of nuclear power by 2033.
