Indonesia launches key salt project to boost local economy
Jakarta, July 2 -- Indonesia's Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is building a community salt production centre in Pamekasan district, East Java, as part of a strategy to strengthen local economies, increase national output and reduce reliance on imported salt. Head of the Pamekasan Marine Affairs and Fisheries Agency, Abdul Fata was qupted by local media as saying that the salt centre's construction will be centred in Majungan Village, Pamekasan. The construction is currently underway, and substantive monitoring has been conducted by the relevant ministries, he said.
