HCM City, March 26 -- Ho Chi Minh City is set to become the first locality to list and trade pork on the Mercantile Exchange of Vietnam (MXV), in a push to clean up price transparency, tighten quality control and traceability while protecting stakeholders across the supply chain, reported the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.

The bustling southern metropolis is already the country's biggest pork consumer, swallowing 13,000-14,000 heads daily and generating an annual market worth over 25 trillion VND (960 million USD).
